Bernice Brijan

Sometimes
the final phase
of a lifespan
full of growth
and metamorphosis
may seem light
and free

Dancing
together
through the sky and
resting
on heather
in the sun but

Meanwhile
invisible to the
human eye
working hard
to prepare for
the generation
to come

Invisible even
to themselves:
continuing life without
the possibility of
witnessing
how much of it
will endure.
