Siberian Touch

Every now and then
the spirit underworld
is unearthed from frosty
mud, clay, and mire

Face to face with
what has been roaming
around for thousands
of years, unseen

Eye to eye with
what has been alive in
mind, heart, and soul
for generations, visible

Perhaps such unexpected
intimacy between
what is en what was
potency and extinction

only requires
closed eyes and
a careful touch
gentle and humble

to honor the tangible
as well as to get past it
reaching out for
what is beyond time.
